About us

Umwelt- und Ingenieurtechnik GmbH Dresden (UIT), Germany, is specialized in Mineral Resources, Environmental Monitoring and Water Technology, focusing on in-situ recovery (ISR) of technology metals and hydrometallurgy.

Main activities include consulting, full-scale engineering, manufacture and practical implementation of technical systems, and turn-key plant construction in the above business areas. UIT operates two technical centers for lab and pilot scale testing: water technology and hydrometallurgy.

Complementarily, UIT develops and actively applies dedicated software tools for computer simulations in (3D) hydrology, geochemistry/reactive-transport, chemical processing, etc. – mainly regarding mining and environmental/remediation applications.

Most important, UIT is actively involved in industrial in-situ mining operations covering exploration (e.g. borehole logging) and prospect development, planning (hydrology/leaching chemistry), engineering (recovery and processing), post-mining remediation, and management.

  • Mineral Resources (exploration and extractive metallurgy/mineral processing, particularly experienced in in-situ recovery of technology metals)

  • Environmental Monitoring (including active mining and remediation applications),

  • Water Technology (mining/industrial water treatment, in-situ technologies).

Column Leach Test Facility

The column leach test facility (saturated flow) is designed according to international standards, operating a 3-channel system either in horizontal or vertical flow. Operational parameters are in accordance to realistic ISR wellfield conditions (aquifer temperature and pressure, pore volume exchange rate) and are monitored by real-time data logging/control. Drill cores and bulk samples can be tested and analyzed for ISR feasibility and performance.

Extractive (Hydro-)Metallurgy and Mineral Processing

UIT provides expert know-how on the relevant technologies and licensing steps required for extracting technology metals (REE, PGE, etc.) and for separation of associated naturally occurring material (NORM) and processing of radioactive elements such as uranium (U), thorium (Th), and their decay products. Our team covers the entire hydrometallurgical processing chain including technologies like flotation, leaching, IX/RIP, IEC, SX, full-scale down-stream processing including separation/refining.
